We believe...

That nonprofit organizations need to be effectively managed as high performing businesses with leaders who can bring their organizations to achieve purpose but also ensure its sustainability and efficiency. Leadership training and development can help maximize effectiveness, shape a positive culture and promote accountability. In today's complex environments, key people must lead individuals and teams using an appropriate leadership style.  The leader of today must inspire those he or she leads to solve the problems.  Good leaders recognize that they do not have all the answers and are constantly reeducating themselves on their businesses and sharpening their leadership skills.

Aside from great leadership, nonprofits need to establish business process, tools, and systems for effective management of teams and engagement of partners and stakeholders.  The management disciplines for leading teams and people; managing scope, time and limited resources; managing risks,  stakeholders and issues; and ensuring continuing justification of programs are necessary.  Managing for results is as equally important as managing for accountability of donor and volunteer resources.  Program and project management, risk management, and stakeholder management are more than ever becoming key areas of competence for non-profit managers, staff and volunteers.
  1. Program & Project Management

Despite all the best strategic frameworks, planning tools and approaches, one of the major dependencies to enabling collective impact is program and project management. Research have shown that donors and funders have given too much emphasis on ‘accountability for results’ with little attention to ‘managing for results’ and that there has been a general lack of program and project management capacity and skills in the development sector. Many development projects have failed because they were poorly managed, unclear roles & responsibilities of project team, poor communication, unrealistic timeframes or tasks, insufficient resources, and bad decisions. By investing in the appropriate amount of discipline, processes and tools for effective program and project management, we will be ensuring the successful delivery of the collective impact that we want to see in our community. Accountability through effective program and project management is therefore a priority.
  2. Learning Leadership

    1
When we think of successful people - we always think of them as leaders. Leadership is crucial to managers in the nonprofit or development sector, but it also plays an important role for coaches, teachers, and parents. There is not one single definition of leadership. What are some common definitions or beliefs about leadership? Some people would say a leader is the appointed head of a group, team, or organization; a charismatic person who is able to make good decisions and inspire others to reach a common goal. Leadership is the power to communicate assertively and inspire others. Not one of the preceding definitions is more correct than any of the others. All of the definitions, however, agree on one common fact: Leadership involves more than one person. You cannot be a leader without a group of people following your direction and putting their trust in you. Remember, as a leader you have a responsibility to your employees, group, organization, or team to lead fairly and ethically.
  3. Organization Development

Most nonprofit leaders understand that culture is important, but do not have a firm understanding about how to effectively harness it in productive and meaningful ways that drive organizational performance. Our organizational development services focus on helping nonprofit executives and senior leadership teams align their organizational culture and strategy to drive sustainable performance results. Our comprehensive organizational development assessments will help your organization determine whether your current structure is where it should be to grow. We can identify your teams’ strengths and weaknesses by identifying ways to improve upon the dynamics, diversity and problem solving and communication skills. We will then build custom approaches that will shape your teams into finely tuned performance groups that achieve your organizational goals. We can help you with strategy and strategy execution including people and change management.
